Download Festival 2012

Now in its tenth year, DOWNLOAD is back in 2012 for what is shaping up to be one of its biggest years to date.

On the line-up there's a whole pile of festival exclusives and welcome returns, not least from the might BLACK SABBATH who will headline on Sunday 10 June. They will be bringing with them the songs that invented heavy metal and a back catalogue that is unparalleled in its sheer brilliance.

METALLICA will also play a UK festival exclusive on Saturday 9 June when they perform the whole of their gargantuan "Black Album". The landmark LP has sold upwards of 25 million copies worldwide, and as it celebrates its 21st birthday this year, what better way to celebrate its place in rock history than by performing it in full in the spiritual home of heavy metal

And kicking things off on the Friday night will be dance punk legends THE PRODIGY - one of the best live acts around and one of the most important musical acts of their generation - who are guaranteed to get even the most ardent metal-head moving with their set of classic anthems that transcend genre.

Elsewhere on the bill there's plenty to get very, very excited about, including a second stage headline set from the fantastic SLASH with MYLES KENNEDY, and performances from the likes of grunge pioneers SOUNDGARDEN, metal legends MACHINE HEAD and MEGADETH, along with fellow thrash pioneers ANTHRAX

SAXON, THE QUIREBOYS, EUROPE, RIVAL SONSSEBASTIAN BACH, SHINEDOWN and OPETH are also spread across the weekend and Slipknot's COREY TAYLOR will be there to play a special acoustic set on Saturday.

There's even some rock that will definitely make you smile, with sets from Jack Black's TENACIOUS D and hair metal revivalists STEEL PANTHER on the Main Stage on Saturday afternoon.

There's still loads of bands to be announced, but frankly if you don't find enough on that bill already to get you excited then you probably need your head looking at.

Get your tickets now or you might miss out - with a line-up this good we're definitely looking at a sell-out.
