Gravel voiced and classic in every way. There are hints of stripped back Springsteen and Steve Earle in this Memphis based singer-songwriter's acoustic Americana. His latest album, Mutt, is well worth a look.

A band with a sound as big as their name, Canada's Monster Truck are a great big burly rock and roll band with a big bag of riffs to play with. Their recent EP, Brown, suggests that we're about to see something exceptional from them in the very near future.

That they originate from Bristol is surprise. That their latest album, The Pines, is the best country-soul-rock record of the year is not. This six piece band are leading a country-rock renaissance in the West Country and they are destined for very big things indeed.

This husband and wife act picked up the Grammy Award for Best Blues Album earlier this year and it's easy to see why. Hinged around Susan Tedeschi's beautiful soul voice and Derek Trucks' extraordinary guitar playing, Revelator is a modern classic of blues rock.

Another 2012 Grammy Award winning act, the Civil Wars are a Nashville based bluegrass duo who specialise in downbeat, harmony based country.

The Australian three-piece have been a revelation in 2012 - a couple of sold out tours and an album that recalls the best of 90s grunge and some of rock's finest bands. We're expecting great things from their forthcoming second studio LP.
