Rush have shared footage of their performance of ‘Distant Early Warning’ from their upcoming, brilliantly monikered documentary film Cinema Strangiato: An Annual Exercise In Fan Indulgence.

Poised to hit cinemas worldwide for one night only on Wednesday 21st August 2019, Cinema Strangiato takes Rush fans behind the scenes on the band’s 40th anniversary R40 tour in 2015, which ultimately proved to be their final trek.

Cinema Strangiato boasts exclusive song performances, unreleased soundcheck and backstage footage, and new interviews with producer Nick Raskulinecz and Rush fans including Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, The Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan and Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins.

Alongside the tour content, fans are also promised a glimpse into the “madness and passion” that went into the making of Geddy Lee’s Big Beautiful Book of Bass, while the film also features a brand-new interview with the Rush vocalist, bassist and keyboardist.

To whet our appetites ahead of the film’s release, Rush have uploaded a performance of ‘Distant Early Warning’ in its unadulterated entirety to YouTube. Watch it right here:

Tickets for Cinema Strangiato: An Annual Exercise In Fan Indulgence are on sale from the official Rush website now.

Rush say of the film: “On August 21, Anthem/Trafalgar will bring the first annual “Cinema Strangiato” to the big screen in movie theaters worldwide for one night only. This theatrical film experience will bring Rush fans together for a special look into R40 Live, see new backstage footage, special guests, and performances that you won’t want to miss.”

Trafalgar Releasing senior vice president for acquisitions, Kymberli Frueh, adds: "Trafalgar Releasing is thrilled to bring 'Rush: Cinema Strangiato 2019' to theatres around the globe for the first of what we're hoping will become an annual event — bringing fans together to experience a celebration of one of the world's most popular rock bands."
