The first teaser trailer for the Ronnie James Dio hologram tour, DIO Returns, has premiered.

Ahead of the European jaunt kicking off in Bochum, Germany on 6th December, the creators of the divisive hologram, Eyellusion, have shared a 36-second clip giving fans an insight of what to expect.

With the Dio classic ‘Holy Diver’ playing in the background, the clip features footage of the Dio likeness belting out the classic while wearing a crucifix adorned white top and leather trousers.

Also featured in the trailer are Dio Disciples guitarist Craig Goldy, vocalist Tim ‘Ripper Owens’, bassist Bjorn Englen, drummer Simon Wright, keyboardist Scott Warren and vocalist Oni Logan who will form the hologram’s backing band.

The 10-date European tour in the run-up to Christmas includes a date at London’s O2 Academy Islington on Tuesday 19th December. Tickets are on sale from Planet Rock Tickets now.

The European leg is part of a larger world tour that will include yet-to-be-announced dates in South America, Australia, Asia, and North America.

Ronnie’s widow Wendy Dio has confirmed that songs that will make the setlist include ‘Holy Diver’, ‘Rainbow in the Dark’, ‘We Rock’, ‘King of Rock and Roll’, Black Sabbath's ‘Neon Knights’ and ‘Heaven and Hell’ and Rainbow's ‘Man on the Silver Mountain.’

The stage set will hark back to Ronnie’s Sacred Heart and Dream Evil tours and a slightly different setlist has been promised from night to night.

“Ronnie was always wanting to experiment with new stage ideas and was a big Disney fan. With this said, I am sure he is giving us his blessing with this hologram project,” Wendy told Rolling Stone.

“It gives the fans that saw Ronnie perform an opportunity to see him again and new fans that never got to see him a chance to see him for the first time. We hope everyone will enjoy the show that we have all worked so hard to put together.”

The Ronnie James Dio hologram made its debut at Wacken Open Air in August 2016 during Dio Disciples’ set. It also appeared at the 28th annual Pollstar Awards in February 2017 at The Novo in Los Angeles.
