Rick Wakeman announces 'The Grumpy Old Christmas Show' tour

Rick Wakeman will take ‘The Grumpy Old Christmas Show’ to eight venues this December.

Opening at London Cadogan Hall on Friday 6th December and wrapping up at Manchester Royal Northern College of Music on Thursday 19th December, the show will bring together music, chat and funny anecdotes from throughout Rick’s legendary career.

Alongside his own esteemed solo songs, Rick will be dipping into Yes’s distinguished musical back catalogue and he’ll play tracks by David Bowie, The Beatles and more.

The music will be interspersed with what Rick calls “knockabout – and sometimes bawdy – humour.”

He comments: “It’s a simple choice. Christmas concerts or traipsing round the shops. No contest, really! Seriously, it’s just so lovely to do some Christmas shows. It’s such a great time of year.”

Tickets go on sale from Planet Rock Tickets at 10am on Thursday 30th May.

See Rick Wakeman at the following shows:

London Cadogan Hall – Fri 6th
Watford Colosseum – Sat 7th
Birmingham Town Hall – Mon 9th
Harrogate Royal Hall – Tue 10th

Ahead of the festive shows, Rick will perform his acclaimed 1974 live album ‘Journey to the Centre of the Earth’ live for the last time ever at London’s world-famous Royal Festival Hall on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July 2019.

Rick will be flanked by The Orion Orchestra, The English Chamber Choir and The English Rock Ensemble, with special guest appearances from Alfie Boe and Robert Powell also confirmed.
