Listen to Ozzy Osbourne's Elton John collaboration 'Ordinary Man'

Ozzy Osbourne - 'Ordinary Man'

Ozzy Osbourne has confirmed his eagerly-awaited twelfth solo studio album ‘Ordinary Man’ will be released on Friday 21st February 2020.

The Prince of Darkness’ first album in a decade boasts the Planet Rock playlisted anthem ‘Under The Graveyard’ and recent single ‘Straight To Hell’, and it’s now been confirmed that fans who pre-order the album will receive the album title track ‘Ordinary Man’ as an instant free download.

‘Ordinary Man’ was recorded in Los Angeles last summer while Ozzy was recuperating from a serious fall in his bedroom and a severe bout of pneumonia earlier in the year, and it features Ozzy on vocals alongside producer Andrew Watt on guitars, Duff McKagan (Guns N' Roses) on bass and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) on drums.

Slash lends his idiosyncratic guitar playing to ‘Straight To Hell’, and it’s now been confirmed that Elton John’s collaboration with Ozzy, that Sharon Osbourne revealed earlier this week, is the album title track ‘Ordinary Man’.

A close friend of the Osbourne family, Elton John tinkles the ivories and shares vocals with Ozzy on the track. Listen to it here:

Speaking about Slash and Elton, Ozzy said: “Slash is a dear friend of mine, as is Elton. When I was writing ‘Ordinary Man,’ it reminded me of an old Elton song and I said to Sharon, ‘I wonder if he would sing on it?’ We asked and lo and behold, he agreed and sings and play piano on the song.”

Other guest performers on 'Ordinary Man' are Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello and rapper Post Malone. It’s currently unclear whether the Post Malone track is their collaboration ‘Take What You Want’, which appeared on Malone’s 2019 album ‘Hollywood’s Bleeding’, or a new track.

Commenting on the recording process, Ozzy said: “It was a lot of fun to do though it’s a lot different from my other albums. We recorded it quickly, which I haven’t done since the first Black Sabbath album. This made it a different process, which I actually enjoyed.”

‘Ordinary Man’ will be available as a standard CD, deluxe CD, black vinyl, deluxe gatefold swirl colour vinyl, picture disc and digital album.

All physical copies of the album will include a unique code that will allow the purchaser to enter a sweepstake for a chance to win one of over 300 Ozzy prizes.

The prizes include an official Ozzy Osbourne laminate to get into any show on the 2020 No More Tours 2, meet and greets with Ozzy, a gift certificate to the Ozzy global store and much more.

Don’t forget, Ozzy's re-rescheduled No More Tour 2 UK trek with Judas Priest takes place this coming autumn. Tickets are on sale from Planet Rock Tickets now.
