The 45th band to take centre stage in our weekly Ones To Watch showcase of the finest up-and-coming talent are euphoric riff rockers Blue Nation.
Blue Nation are: Neil Murdoch (guitar, vocals). Chris Bloor (drums) and Luke Weston (bass, backing vocals).
Hailing from Birmingham, Blue Nation draw from a reservoir of influences including Cream, Zeppelin, The Beatles and more recently Rival Sons and Vintage Trouble to name a few. Their new album The Kaftan Society has been in the making for over a year whilst the band toured with the likes of Skid Row, Dirty Thrills, Steve Conte and Brian Downey. Supported Toploader, Scouting For Girls, Turin Breaks, The Boxer Rebellion and The Record Company at festivals and venues across the UK. Touring in NYC and playing twice at the F1 Grand Prix at Silverstone, was a real buzz.
Set up as a three piece they keep it simple and to the point with drums, guitar, bass and two vocals there is no hiding place or passengers in this band.
Front man Neil Murdoch explains: “The album came together naturally, it took about 3 months to write and we spent a year perfecting the songs in the studio with Alex Vine of AVR Music. The title ‘The Kaftan Society’ is a direct link to us. It’s about being who you are, and not being scared of what people think and feel about you. Standing up for love and dismissing any form of hate. The album has so many different themes running through it, we wanted people to be able to relate to the songs and feel like it’s for them.”
‘The Kafkan Society’ is released on Friday 30th November with a hometown, Sunflower Lounge launch the following day.
