Less than three years after their farewell show in Los Angeles, Mötley Crüe are reuniting in the studio to lay down four brand new songs.

Vocalist Vince Neil broke the news today (13th September), writing on Twitter: “Exciting news! I’ll be going back in recording studio in a few weeks with the boys to record 4 brand new Motley Crue tracks! Rock On!!”

After being deluged with questions from his followers, Vince later clarified things: “For those of you who don’t understand, yes “the boys” means Motley and we signed a contract not to tour anymore. We never broke up or said we would never make music again. Hope this clears it up.”

Late last month, a photo was posted to Mötley Crüe’s Facebook page depicting Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx in the studio with producer Bob Rock. Mick Mars and Vince Neil were both absent from the image.

Bob Rock produced two Mötley Crüe albums during their 34-year career - 1989’s ‘Dr. Feelgood’ and 1994’s self-titled ‘Mötley Crüe’.

Tommy Lee also shared the same image on Instagram along with the caption ‘It’s the new sh**!’ He previously shared a video of himself playing drums in the studio.

No more details have been revealed about the Mötley Crüe reunion, however a good guess is it’s for the upcoming Netflix movie The Dirt based on the infamous Mötley Crüe 2001 biography of the same name.

Directed by Jeff Tremaine from a screenplay by Rich Wilkes, The Dirt stars Douglas Booth as Nikki Sixx, Machine Gun Kelly (real name Richard Colson Baker) as Tommy Lee, Daniel Webber as Vince Neil and Iwan Rheon as Mick Mars.

Principal production started on the biopic in February 2018 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

After 34 years and more than 100 million record sales, Mötley Crüe called it a day (in the live arena at least) on 31st December 2015 with a show at The Staples Centre in their native Los Angeles.
