Metallica invited a young fan to play drums with them in Amsterdam on Tuesday night (11th June) to celebrate his 13th birthday.
The heavy metal giants were just about the tear into the final track before their encore, ‘Seek & Destroy’, when they invited the young boy called Evan Adamson to join them on stage.
In footage you can watch below, Lars Ulrich vacates his stool and Adamson plays the intro to ‘Seek & Destroy’ with remarkable proficiency.
James Hetfield joked to the capacity Johan Cruyff Arena crowd “Oh god, Lars shrunk. They put Lars in the wash. Told them not to put him in the dryer”, as Ulrich whispered some words of encouragement to Adamson.

Adamson later took to Instagram to write: "Well well well no words I mean to play drums in front of 68,000 people with my hero’s my favourite band of all time was just the best thing ever and to top it all off it was my bday."
Metallica's WorldWired tour continues in Cologne tonight (13th June) hits London Twickenham Stadium and Manchester Etihad Stadium next week. The last tickets are on sale from Planet Rock Tickets now.
