Some You Might Have Missed...

Aside from the ten best that we've highlighted, there have been many really, really cracking rock records this year.

Here's some that may have slipped under your radar which may be worth investigating further.

FLYING COLORS - FLYING COLOURS

Mike Portnoy, Dave LaRue, Casey McPherson, Neal Morse and Steve Morse team up for a debut album of really accessible hard-rock-prog.

JACK WHITE - BLUNDERBUSS

Sounds like the sum of all of his previous projects. It's classic blues given a modern makeover.

CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX - (MANKIND) THE CRAFTY APE

A double concept album of ambitious proto-prog from a post rock collective. Well worth a look

TORCHE - HARMONICRAFT

Great big and bouncy hard rock with super catchy hooks

IT BITES - MAP OF THE PAST

Superb new album from the prog veterans. Probably their most accessible album for some time and well worth a look.

UFO - SEVEN DEADLY

Quietly released new album from one of Britain's greatest ever rock bands. If you're a fan of their best work then check out their new album.

SMASHING PUMPKINS - OCEANIA

Billy Corgan promised his band would release their best album since Melon Collie & The Infinite Sadness and that's exactly what they did.
BAND OF SKULLS - SWEET SOUR

Stunning second album from Southampton's Band Of Skulls. Alt-rock with a hint of Vol 4 Sabbath.
