The Download Interviews
Planet Rock's Darren Redick and Phoebe Winter were on hand to risk life, limb and eardrums at an epic Download Festival last weekend.
Over the weekend there were amazing sets from the likes of Cheap Trick, Mr Big, Black Stone Cherry, Gaslight Anthem and Thin Lizzy, while The Darkness reminded us exactly why they were such an entertaining live proposition the first time around with a reunion show on the Main Stage on Friday night. Meanwhile, Def Leppard proved once again to be a festival headlining masterstroke, packing hit after hit into their set and keeping the chilly night air at bay.
Twisted Sister and Alice Cooper offered an intensely entertaining one-two punch on the Planet Rock sponsored second stage on Saturday night, while System Of A Down gave other bands a lesson in timing efficiency, packing more than 25 songs into a well received 90 minute headline set.
On Sunday the heavens opened but spirits were not dampened and bands such as Gaslight Anthem and Buckcherry played great sets, while The Cult were typically brilliant and Rob Zombie closed the festival with a heavy, epic headline set over on the second stage.
We've pulled together some of the best interviews that Darren conducted with Alice, Cheap Trick's Tom Petersson, Def Leppard, Eric Martin of Mr Big and Thin Lizzy / The Almighty frontman ricky Warwick.
Darren chats to Eric Martin from Mr Big while Planet Rock prize winners Ian & Paula listen in.
