Today we are giving away a collection of rock concert Blu-Ray DVDs, ready to grace the living room of one lucky rocker this Christmas.
The collection includes:
Black Label Society: having graced the world's stages for the past 20 years, both as Ozzy Osborne's right hand man and fronting Black Label Society, Zakk Wylde has established himself as one of the few remaining guitar heroes. European Invasion captures BLS live on their sold out European tour in 2005, supporting their hit album Mafia . It contains the full Paris show as well as extensive bonus features. Originally a 2 disc DVD it is now presented in superb picture and sound quality on a single disc Blu-ray.
Elp at Montreux: Emerson, Lake and Palmer, known to all as ELP, were progressive rock's first supergroup. Formed in 1970 they were an instant success and went on to have a series of huge selling albums throughout the seventies, before splitting up in the early eighties. Reunited in the early nineties they produced a new album, Black Moon, and began to tour again. In 1997 they embarked on a world tour which included this superb performance at Montreux on July 7.
New Blood - Live In London: filmed at Hammersmith Apollo in March last year, New Blood Live In London captures Peter Gabriel performing live with the 46 piece New Blood Orchestra. The repertoire mixes cover versions from his Scratch My Back album with classic tracks from across his solo career in brand new orchestral arrangements. Gabriel is a renowned live performer and his onstage charisma and instantly recognisable voice combine brilliantly with the orchestral sound palette to breathe a new sense of wonder into familiar songs. As you would expect the concert is also a visual feast, with graphics, animation and imagery blending to enhance and illustrate the music. This is truly a live experience not to be missed.
Santana at Montreux: the Latin rock band Santana perform a selection of songs from their long career at Montreux in 2011. Founded by singer and guitarist Carlos Santana in the late 1960s, Santana remain active to this day and have enjoyed considerable success throughout their career. At a special concert the band play songs ranging from their self-titled 1969 debut album to 2010's 'Guitar Heaven'. Among the hits performed by the band are 'Smooth', 'Oye Com Va' and 'Samba Pa Ti'. The show also features guest appearances from Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks and Cindy Blackman-Santana.
Heaven and Hell: Radio City Music Hall Live! Was filmed at the iconic New York venue on 30 March 2007. It was the first US concert by the Dio / Iommi/ Butler/ Appice line-up for over 15 years and formed part of Heaven & Hell s 2007 world tour. It was the success of this tour that led to the continued existence of Heaven & Hell, a new studio album and further live dates, and ongoing plans that were only curtailed by the sad death of Ronnie James Dio. Filmed in high definition but originally released on DVD only by SPV in Europe, the show is now being re-released on Blu-ray for the first time, and contains added bonus material.
The Doors At The Bowl: on 5 July 1968 The Doors took to the stage of the Hollywood Bowl for a concert that has since passed into legend. The Doors were performing on the back of their 3rd album release, Waiting For The Sun. They had been honing their live performances over the previous 2 years and were on absolute peak form. Now, for the first time, the original film footage from the Hollywood Bowl has been digitally scanned and restored to present the show better and more complete than it s ever been seen before, with 2 previously cut tracks returned to the running order and with sound newly remixed and mastered from the original multitrack tapes by The Doors engineer and co-producer Bruce Botnick. This is now the definitive edition of this famous performance.
The Ranconteurs: This performance from Montreux in 2008 was part of the tour in support of the band's second album. The setlist is split between songs from both the band's albums and includes covers of Terry Reid s Rich Kid Blues and the old Charley Jordan track Keep It Clean. This is rough, tough rock n' roll with great tunes and even better guitar hooks performed by an outstanding live band!
Gary More - Blues For Jimi: this unique concert was filmed at the London Hippodrome on 25 October 2007. It formed a part of the launch for the Jimi Hendrix Live At Monterey programme and featured Gary Moore and his band performing classic Hendrix tracks. At the end of the night Gary was joined by Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox of the Jimi Hendrix Experience for 3 tracks. Gary Moore was one of the finest British guitarists of all time and is one of the few players who could pay homage to Jimi Hendrix s groundbreaking and truly distinctive guitar style. This is a stunning tribute from one master guitarist to another.
