WATCH: Queens of the Stone Age reveal seventh album title via lie detector test

Queens of the Stone Age have unveiled the title of their seventh studio album in an inspired way.

In a Liam Lynch directed video posted to YouTube last night, the Palm Desert quintet sit down for a lie detector test and are asked a series of questions about the follow-up to 2013’s ‘… Like Clockwork’.

Failing on the opening question, the band are asked the question - is the new album titled Villains’? When Josh Homme answers with a ‘no’ the polygraph spikes indicating that the singer has lied.

When asked if it was produced by Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse, Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga, Foreigner), Josh Homme pretends to not know the English producer despite him being stood in the same room.

The video then features a snippet of the first single to be lifted from ‘Villains’, ‘Feet Don't Fail Me’, which Josh Homme professes “sounds great” but knows absolutely nothing about it.

Speaking about the record to New Zealand’s The Rock FM last month, Josh Homme said it’s “sort of like a panther in the trees leaping out of the darkness” who’s “ready to pounce”.

He added: “I feel like we’re just leaning on the gate waiting for someone to open that sucker up so we can move. I think the record feels that way too — it feels up-tempo.”

Josh also said he always aims to make his best record when in the studio: “At the end of the day, this is just a musical way to explain a lifetime.

“So the most important record I’m making is the one I’m working on. For the lack of a better term, I bet my life on it. If you don’t risk anything, you’re not gonna get anything. I don’t want to copy myself, I just want to take another chance at it. It keeps it always exciting that way.”
