Sykes & Portnoy Team Up For New Band
Former Thin Lizzy and Dream Theater members have formed a new power-trioBlabbermouth reports that former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy has joined forces with ex-Thin Lizzt guitarist/vocalist John Sykes and an as-yet-undisclosed bassist in a brand new power trio.
The project is currently recording material at a Los Angeles studio, with Portnoy describing one song as "copping the Zeppeln / Sabbath vibe" and another as "Floyd meets Purple!!! Some serious old-school classic rock."
No word on when the record will be completed but Portnoy is certainly going to be a busy man in the coming months. He recently revealed that he had formed a new band called the Adrenaline Mob, which features Symphony X frontman Russell Allen, guitar virtuoso Mike Orlando (Sonic Stomp), bassist Paul DiLeo and Fozzy axeman Rich Ward.
