Metallica have shared a previously unheard demo version of their thrash classic ‘Master of Puppets’.
The raw yet musically proficient version of the track was recorded by James, Lars, Cliff and Kirk in the garage of The Carlson House in El Cerrito, California way back in June 1985.
Listen to the demo in all its glory here:
The embryonic recording is lifted from the Remastered Deluxe Box Set & 3-CD Expanded Edition of ‘Master of Puppets’, which is released across the globe on Friday 10th November.
Costing a whopping £149.99, the limited edition deluxe numbered box set of Master of Puppets includes three vinyl records (with a MP3 Download Card), ten CDs, two DVDs, one cassette, a hardcover book including never-before-seen photos, a folder containing handwritten lyrics, a set of six buttons and a "Damage, Inc." lithograph.
You can pre-order the extensive package right here and check out a live recording of ‘Battery’ in Japan in November 1986 below.
Warning: The first 25 seconds of this video contains continuous strobe lighting effects.
In other Metallica news, the heavy metal monoliths’ pop-up store opens at 45 Charlotte Road in Shoreditch, London tomorrow (18th October) until next Monday (23rd October). Opening hours will be midday to 8pm for the opening five days and midday to 6pm on the Monday.
Just like their series of pop-up stores in North America, the London shop will, according to the band, boast “cool new, exclusive and collectible items.”
Sadly, for fans with tickets to their Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham shows, the pop-up shop won’t be touring the country; a post on their official website in September confirmed the shops will only be popping-up in Cologne and London.
With support from Norwegian metallers Kvelertak, Metallica play the following sold out UK shows this month:
London O2 Arena – Sun 22nd
London O2 Arena – Tue 24th
Glasgow SSE Hydro – Thu 26th
Manchester Arena – Sat 28th
Birmingham Genting Arena – Mon 30th
