Jon Lord's Final Album To Be Released
His re-recorded Concerto will be released in SeptemberThe Concerto For Group And Orchestra is a studio version of Deep Purple's classic album, and although Jon performed it live dozens of times in the 40 years since he originally wrote it, there has never been a definitive studio production.
Work started on the record last year and in an interview in 2011 Jon said of the record:
"Over these last years since leaving Deep Purple, I've played it over 30 times with different orchestras and conductors all over the world, and, of course, in 2000 I did it well over 30 times with Purple on the Concerto tour, so I've been honing the piece live on stage and I've had the opportunity to change things in the score that weren't sounding quite right. It is therefore a marvelous and exciting prospect to have the definitive recording of the definitive version of the score."
The new recording is released on 25 September through Eagle Rock Entertainment and it features guest appearances from the likes of Steve Morse, Joe Bonamassa, Bruce Dickinson and many more.
