Janis Joplin Songwriter Jerry Ragovoy Dies
He wrote hit songs such as 'Piece Of My Heart' and 'Time Is On My Side'
Ragavoy was a legend in soul music, penning some of the most iconic songs of all time. His songs also had amazing crossover appeal, and Joplin covered a number of them during her life.
The Rolling Stones also made famous the song 'Time Is On My Side', which was a single in 1964 and it appeared on their second studio album.
Speaking to the LA Times, Jim Steinblatt, a spokesman for the performance rights group ASCAP said, "Jerry was a giant of soul, R&B and rock songwriting and record production. His songs were far better known than he was."
RIP Jerry Ragavoy, 1930 - 2011
