Eric Clapton Owned Art Sells For £21m
The painting by Gerhard Richter broke a world record for living artist
Clapton sold the 1994 painting, "Abstraktes Bild (809-4)” at an auction in London on Friday for a staggering $34m.
The sale broke the record for the sale of a work by a living artist - a record that had been in place since Jasper Johns’ painting ‘Flag’ sold for $28m in 2010.
Clapton bought the painting along with two others by Richter in 2001 for $3.1m.
