David Bowie Nominated For Mercury Prize

'The Next Day' receives the prestigious nod.

The 2013 nominations for the Barclaycard Mercury Prize were revealed tonight (September 11) at a ceremony at London's Hospital Club.

The album was Bowie's first full-length release in a decade and is currently joint bookmakers favourite (along with Arctic Monkeys' "AM") to win the prize in October.

The 12-strong shortlist is below:

David Bowie - 'The Next Day'
Disclosure - 'Settle'
Foals - 'Holy Fire'
James Blake - 'Overgrown'
Jake Bugg - 'Jake Bugg'
Jon Hopkins - 'Immunity'
Laura Marling - 'Once I Was An Eagle'
Laura Mvula - 'Sing To The Moon'
Rudimental - 'Home'
Savages - 'Silence Yourself'
Villagers - '{Awayland}'
