The Best Festival Act Of 2010

Throughout August you've been voting for the best festival acts of the year, and after tallying up the thousands of votes it seems that AC/DC's first festival performance in this country for nearly 20 years was enough to give them the edge in this poll.

Yep, the Aussie hard rock legends returned to the UK to the place of possibly their greatest previous triumph - Donington Park - when they headlined Download Festival 2010 on Friday 11 June. Festival organisers moved heaven & earth - well, earth anyway - to get the band on the bill, even building a separate stage to host the mighty antipodean rock stars.

High Voltage seems to have been the festival where bands really brought their A-game, with 18 acts from the Top 40 playing at the inaugural London festival in July.

But what the Top 40 proves more than anything is that there were some pretty tremendous acts gracing stages across the UK this summer, and in many cases providing career best performances.

(And before you ask, no, we aren't sure how either the Scissor Sister or the Black Eyed Peas were voted into this list either...)
