Not in my name you don’t, says the Boss

Bruce Springsteen is not happy with US royalty collection society ASCAP. He’s published a statement on his website, formally distancing himself from a lawsuit being pursued by the organisation, even though he’s been named as a plaintiff on the legal paperwork.

 

ASCAP is suing New York bar Connolly’s Pub and Restaurant because it’s alleged they allowed an unnamed band to perform two songs by the Boss without having the appropriate performance rights from the society.

 

Bruce, however, is having none of it and said via his lawyers that he was not aware of the lawsuit, filed in a US court on Wednesday, that he did not agree to be a plaintiff and that his legal people have demanded his name be removed from the action.

If the boss was good enough to come down and play well good enough. Only problem, did they have the permit etc.
