‘Stairway’ gets the Vai treatment
4th February 2010
Cover version alert...it’s being reported that Steve Vai is to play on a reworking of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’.
The legendary shredder has been referred to as "my friend with all the hair," by R&B singer Mary J Blige, who is responsible for the project being recorded at Hollywood's Capitol Studios. She told Spinner.com that she’s formed a new supergroup especially for the track, which also includes Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker.

(09/02/2010 10:48:46) could be worse, Rolf Harris could have re-released his version. Stairway (in my opinion) is not the best track in their back catalog but I do think there are certain tracks that should be left well alone, and stairway is one of them |

(09/02/2010 10:31:40) I take it Zepplin have given their permission which in itself is a crime against rock. As is all too common theses days with the likes of Cheryl Crow covering Gn R's Sweet child of mine. Brittny Spears with Aerosmith. If you aint rock then don't touch rock. |
